It is an organic intermediate that can be used to prepare 2-diazo-3-oxoglutarate dimethyl ester from 3-oxoglutarate dimethyl ester, followed by cyclization to obtain 4,6-dihydroxypyridazin-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester, and finally chlorination to obtain 4,6-dichloropyridazin-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester.
